Shane Sutherland is a London-based visual artist of Jamaican descent. Their artistic practice transcends traditional boundaries, employing both analogue and digital processes to empower and celebrate the Black subject. With a blend of photography, present and past film, archival media, and theoretical text, their work delves into the nuanced themes surrounding global Black identity and experiences, at the intersection of queerness.

Their more recent work ventures into the immersive world of Virtual Reality (VR) and photogrammetry, harnessing 3D software tools like Blender and Unity to breathe life into new video concepts and experiences. Excitingly, they are now seeking to learn the fundamentals of game design and ways to integrate Augmented Reality (AR) technology within their work.

Some of Shane's achievements include their directorial and production work on the Afrofuturist Sci-Fi short film "OSUPA," which garnered acclaim and was screened at the London Short Film Festival in January 2023. They have also previously exhibited work at Walkers Court-Soho estates, One Thoresby Street, Central Saint Martin's Gallery, and Copeland Gallery.

Intrigued by the boundless possibilities of storytelling, technology, and cultural representation, Shane continues to shape a unique artistic narrative that resonates deeply and seeks to foster community & challenge societal norms.
